This paper proposes integrated optimal guidance for the reentry and landing of a rocket using the multi-phase pseudospectral convex optimization method. Reentry operation involves deceleration to secure the vehicle/ground safety and constrain the landing location. Engine throttling is considered at the reentry phase for precise landing at the landing zone within allowable touchdown velocity. The proposed procedure converts the optimal control problem to a convex optimization problem. The pseudospectral discretization and successive convexification are used for the conversion. A case study on the reentry guidance of an actual reusable launch vehicle is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.
