In this paper, an adaptive disturbance compensation technique is newly proposed for enhancing the track-following control in optical storage systems subject to eccentricity. Based on a disturbance observer that effectively estimate,, the low-frequency components of the disturbance, a feedforward compensator is devised and added to the conventional feedback control. Through experiments in an optical storage system, the feasibility of the proposed approach is verified.
