The photocatalytic activity of framework titania in titanium-containing zeolites NaY and offretite has been investigated using the decomposition of trichloroethylene in water. The framework titania showed a remarkable activity for the photocatalytic reaction based on total number of Ti atoms, compared with titania powder. This result shows a possibility of taking advantage of the large specific surface area, high adsorption capacity and selective adsorption of zeolites for photocatalytic reactions.
