We address a bidirectional interaction utilizing tactile output seamlessly in a touch input space. Since the tactile output and the touch input space are the same, the user can recognize the tactile output and perform touch input at the same time. Additionally, the user can interact with the tactile patterns. In this study, we propose interaction designs to enhance three existing interfaces with different modalities: visual, auditory, and tactile interfaces. First, we enhance the PC environment, which is the most popular visual interface. Our interactions offload visual load caused by complicated graphical interface by utilizing tactile output. Second, we enhance the in-vehicle voice interface. We try to solve usability issues due to lack of feedback and control of the voice interface. Finally, we enhance 2D tactile interface. We propose the interaction to enable both perceiving 2D tactile information and touch input simultaneously utilizing both sides of a hand.
