Over the past few years, the modern automobilel industry has been rapidle emerging as vehicles have connectivity to the global network and generate a large amount of data every day. Notwithstanding significant developments in connected cars, the vehicle data itself is not yet adequately managed and controlled:moreover, the security threats targeting connected cars are explosively increasing. To solve these problems, we propose an edge-assisted data security platform considering vehicle data governance. We suggest a standardized vehicle data expression which can represent various vehicle objects enents regardless of data type, format, or manufacturer. The critical vehicle-produced data are transmitted to the cloud server, and the edge layer assists the selective data forwarding and secure data transferring. Lastly, the standardized vehicle threat intelligence is suggested that can not only surveil vehicular networks with intrusion detection systems but also share and updata vehicle security threats across various OEM domains. The proof-of -concept implementation using a real car and the use-case study demonstrated the feasibility of the platform. The outcome of this study would provide a holistic view of vehicle data governance and security strategies for engineers and policymakers.
