A shrinking core model is applied to the simulation of the transport mechanism of hexavalent chromium ion through the carrier-containing emulsion drop. The complex formed from the carrier amine and the chromium ion is permeated through the oil phase into the microemulsion and there exits a reaction front where the concentration of the complex is zero due to the reaction with the internal reagent, i.e., sodiumhydroxide. Experimental data were in good correlation with the computed results from the proposed model equations.
