dc.description.abstractIntermixing criteria are proposed for determining the microstructure of the reaction products during the reaction synthesis of Ni/Al multilayered microfoils. The critical thickness and thickness ratio for the formation of monolithic intermetallic depend on the conductive heat loss through the Ni layer and are verified by analytical thermophysical modeling.
