Selecting tools from a menu on the tabletop is a costly operation as it requires a large motion over the tabletop. As a solution to this problem, we propose an interaction technique called HandCall, where a user can call a tool by making a hand gesture on the tabletop. We derived an intuitive mapping between gestures and tools based on a user study, implemented a prototype realizing the basic concept of HandCall, and verified its feasibility with users.-
