The phase-sensitive Kondo effect in the transmission through a quantum dot is investigated. It is shown that the Kondo-resonant tunneling through a quantum dot coupled to two arms is characterized by a high transmission probability with a constant phase shift. The Kondo-assisted persistent current flowing through a quantum dot embedded in an Aharonov-Bohm ring is also considered. It is shown that the strongly correlated nature of the ground state leads to a novel parity effect.
