We produced (Rh)napproximate to1100 nanoparticles by reducing Rh3+ cations with alcohol solvent and, for the first time, investigated their magnetic properties. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed that (Rh)(n) approximate to 1100 nanoparticles had a face-centered cubic structure with a lattice constant of a = 3.813 Angstrom. We measured the hysteresis loops and the magnetization curves versus temperature. Although small (Rh)n<32 clusters arc reported to be ferromagnetic, we observed the (Rh), 1100 nanoparticles to be paramagnetic, as is the bulk metal, for the measured temperature range of T = 5 similar to 330 K. Thus, (Rh), clusters will reach their bulk paramagnetism at n < 1100.
