Novel cDNAs encoding evolutionarily conserved J Domain Proteins (JDPs) were investigated from Drosophila and mouse. Each of the full coding sequences potentially encodes a conserved J domain, but lacks additional characteristic structures present in DnaJ family proteins. The expression was restricted to head in Drosophila. However, ubiquitous expression was observed in mice with the highest li:vel in kidney.
