dc.description.abstractThe photophysical properties of trans-2-styrylnaphthalene (2-StN) and trans-1-(n-pyridyl)-2-(2-quinoxalinyl)ethenes (n,2-PQxE, n = 2 and 3) were studied. Conformational equilibrium was verified by the solvent dependence of the photophysical properties, the wavelength dependence of the fluorescence spectra (emission and excitation) and comparison with conformationally restricted trans-1-(n-pyridyl)-2-(3-methyl-2-quinoxalinyl)ethenes. The positional effect of the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring was not observed in these compounds.-
