Alkylstyryl carbazole group contained poly(methacrylate) (Cz-PMA) was synthesized through radical polymerization route under nitrogen atmosphere. This polymer was characterized with UV-visible, photoluminescence, and electroluminescence study. The EL device was typical three-layer device consisting of ITO / polymer film / Al. The absorption maximum and edge of alkylstyryl carbazole lumophore exhibited at 340 and 400nm, respectively. And Cz-PMA was blended with poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) ; blend ratio was 1/1 and 1/10 (MEH-PPV/Cz-PMA). Absorption peaks of the polymer blends appeared at 340 and 500 nm corresponding to their component polymers. Photoluminescence maximum peak of Cz-PMA appeared at around 440 nm. The polymer blends showed two isolated emission peaks at 440 and 560 nm corresponding to their component polymers. Electroluminescence maximum peaks of 1/1 and 1/10 exhibited at 600 and 580nm.
