Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopic and calorimetric studies have been carried out on the blends of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with poly(ethyl methacrylate-co-ethyl hydroxymethyl acrylate) (PEHMA) or with poly(ethyl methacrylate-co-methyl hydroxymethyl acrylate) (PEMHMA). The Melting temperature T$_m$ and the degree of the crystallinity X$_c$ of PEO in the systems of PEHMA/PEO and PEMHMA/PEO blends which were obtained from chloroform medium were measured in various weight fraction of PEO. By a FTIR spectroscopic study we analyzed the spectra of the blend systems by using the method of digital weighted subtraction. From the results we found that the self-association of PEHMA(or PEMHMA) by hydrogen bonding acts as an important factor on the miscibility with PEO. The main objective of this research is to obtain more information for the influence of self-asociation of PEHMA(or PEMHMA) on the miscibility with PEO.eng
