The polymerization of 4,4-diphenyl-1,6-heptadiyne was done by various transition metal catalyst system. The resulting polymer has conjugated polyene backbone containing six-membered cyclic structure. The poly(4,4-diphenyl-1,6-heptadiyne) has excellent properties in both the solubility in general organic solvent and the oxidation stability identified from IR spectra. Therefore, the resulting polymer films were easily obtained by casting with organic solvent. The thermal properties and the morphology of poly(4,4-diphenyl-1, 6-heptadiyne) films were also studied. The electrical conductivity and the magnetical properties of resulting polymer upon doping were chainged. The changes in IR, UV-Visible, morphology ESR spectra, and the activation energy of the conduction by doping were also researched.
