South Korea has emerged as a global leader of the recent green growth initiative with massive investment in green technologies and industries. This paper tracks the evolution of South Korea’s low carbon green growth strategy, identifying three distinct features of the green growth policy development – green developmental state, prioritization of economic utility, and technology focus. Based on the South Korean case of the green growth initiative, we suggest a few directions for future research on comparative green growth policy.
