In the present study, effects of drop size and impinging velocity on penetration into a porous medium were experimentally investigated. Melamine foam with 99 % of porosity and 7.568 × 10⁻¹⁰㎡ of permeability was used as porous medium. The range of impinging velocity and drop size were 0.74 - 1.36 ㎧ and 1.9 - 3.0 ㎜, respectively. Penetration velocity was increased as drop size became smaller while little affected by the impinging velocity. As maximum surface wetted area became smaller, penetration velocity increased and ratio between diameter of the surface wetted area and drop diameter approached 4 regardless of drop size.
