dc.description.abstractA numerical model of a mechanical pedometer has been built and its dynamical characteristics have been studied in the two cases of inelastic collisions and elastic collisions. The model in the first case was shown to serve as a light-weight and effective nonlinear filter for counting steps from an accelerometer signal.-
