This paper proposes a novel MAC protocol adopting time division duplex (TDD) technology for extending total subscribers at the expense of downstream bandwidth in WDM/Ethemet passive optical network (WE-PON). To compensate sacrificed downstream bandwidth, we employ an efficient threshold decision and dynamic bandwidth (DBA) algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed MAC protocol improves queueing delay, link utilization under asynchronous traffic conditions.
