The main noise source of an induction motor is the stator vibration caused by electromagnetic force. This work addresses the systematic computational procedures to compute the electromagnetic force distribution and resulting mechanical vibration as a main noise source. Transient electromagnetic field problem is treated to account for permeance wave and eccentricity of the rotor and the stator. In the process the finite element meshes in the rotor can be rotated against the stator meshes. For vibration analysis only steady state running of the induction motor is considered. Using the results from the electromagnetic force lumping is used for the coarse structural finite element mesh. Some numerical results and experimental results are presented and discussed.
