A new discrete ordinates nodal method is developed for the two-dimensional transport equation in hexagonal geometry. We solve the discrete ordinates equation analytically after the source term is projected and represented in high-order polynomials. This source projection analytic nodal discrete ordinates method (SPANDOM) is applied to two four-group fast reactor benchmark problems. Compared with the TWOHEX code, the numerical results indicate that the present method accurately predicts not only effective multiplication factor but also groupwise flux distributions.
