Guided-wave polarisation splitters are fabricated in electro-optic polymers by exploiting the poling-induced birefringence. One arm of the Y-branch type waveguide is poled to induce the birefringence selectively. By the mode evolution process, TM and TE modes are split between the poled and the unpoled arms.
