Fields scattered by a lossy dielectric wedge for a plane-wave incidence are calculated. Reflected and refracted fields are obtained by inhomogeneous plane-wave tracing in a lossy medium, while the edge-diffracted fields of the physical-optics approximation are accurately corrected by adding the multipole line sources at the edge of the wedge to satisfy the extinction theorem. This solution provides accurate numerical results for the scattered fields when the loss tangent of the wedge medium is less than about 10, which is guaranteed by the smallness of the extinction integral.
