Photodissociation dynamics of H2S has been studied using the degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) technique at 266 nm and room temperature. The DFWM spectra of SH A(2) Sigma-X(2) Pi(i) (0,0) transitions have been observed and the nascent rotational distributions, spin-orbit state ratio, and Lambda-doublet population ratio of the SH fragments have been extracted. The rotational distributions are cold and characterized by a Boltzmann temperature of 348 +/- 20 K for the SH((2) Pi(3/2)) state. The Lambda-doublet population ratio has been found to be close to unity. The SH((2) Pi(3/2))/SH((2) Pi(1/2)) ratio has been observed to be 3.50 +/- 0.18. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
