dc.description.abstract | Development of a pair of concentric jets issuing into an axisymmetric cavity were experimentally investigated by using a single component LDV system. Major concern of the study was centered around the mixing process between the two concentric turbulent jets and the secondary recirculating flow in the upstream corner of the cavity. The velocity ratio of inner jet to outer one was varied from 0.595 to 1.388 with the outer jet velocity fixed at a constant value. The wall pressure, mean velocity and turbulent intensities in the axial and circumferential directions were measured in the whole cavity. Is was found that the velocity ratio between the two jets affects appreciably the reattachment length and particularly turbulent intensity profile in the initial jet mixing region. Detailed descriptions of the turbulent flow characteristics are given in the text. | - |
