The Music Player MAF Format of ISO/IEC 23000-2 FDIS consists of MP3 data, MPEG-7/21 metadata and one optional JPEG image data based on ISO Base Media File Format. This file format includes much richer metadata information than MP3 format which is most widely used, and can support for media protection or management. However, the current Music Player MAF format does not allow for multiple JPEG image data or timed text data.
It is helpful to use timed text data and multiple JPEG images in the various multimedia applications. For example, the MP3 file format is popularly used to execute the foreign language listening material, but is limited in lack of conversation script and description images. If audio data, images and text data can be represented in a single file format with time synchronization, it is useful to handle such composite files so that enriched multimedia consumption becomes possible.
In this thesis, we present an extended MAF for the Music Player MAF with MP3 data, multiple JPEG data and text data in synchronization. The proposed extended MAF is also based on ISO Base Media File Format. For production of the extend MAF contents, we propose an MAF XMT for easy exchange and editing purpose. We implement an authoring tool to generate the extend MAF contents and an MAF player to validate them.
