The word ``ubiquitous`` means ``being present everywhere at once``. In order words, Ubiquitous means that user can make connection at network regardless of time and place. Ubiquitous technologies have recently been studied by many laboratory members. One of method for implementing Ubiquitous technologies, biomedical signal sensing system and UWB (ultra-wide bandwidth) technology are currently investigated for Ubiquitous home. Among the biomedical signal sensing systems, the wireless detection system of respiration has studied from 1975 [1], and the research of the wireless detection system of heart rate was started in 1979 [2].
In this thesis, wireless detection system of heart rate and several UWB antennas are proposed. Firstly, this thesis will explains design process of LNA and Mixer which are the main components of biomedical signal sensing. Through integration of RF devices such as LNA, mixer, oscillator, and antenna, the performance of wireless bio-signal detection system will be experimented with human’s heart rate. And UWB antennas which are necessary for wireless connection among DVD, digital camera, VTR, computer or peripherals, and so on, will be described. Firstly, wireless bio-signal detection system for Ubiquitous-home will be described. This system is very useful as sensor which can detect moving objects. The principle of operation for this sensing system is that the target has velocity toward the direction of the radar, the reflected signal on the surface of moving target is shifted in frequency in proportion to the velocity of target toward the direction of the radar. Therefore, this system can measure respiration and heart rates with periodic movement of skin and muscle near the heart.
Secondly, a band-rejected UWB planar monopole antenna with two parasitic patches is proposed. This antenna is a novel ultra-wideband antenna with band elimination characteristic that has the omni-directional patterns in E-plane and the impedance bandwidth...
