While getting so much attention as the most promising technology that make human-environment interactions possible, wireless sensor networks have been showing their tangible applications in real fields, thanks to the advances in technologies such as MEMS, wireless communications, processors and so on. Among the many design factors, the energy efficiency is the most crucial. Until now, there have been many trials to provide an optimal route for minimum energy consumption in a wireless sensor network, whose energy resource is very limited at every node. Power consumption aspect for designing sensor network protocol must be taken into consideration since the battery (the source which supplies energy) is one of the main restrictions of sensor networks. Thus, we propose a $\bf{power-aware position vector routing (PPVR)} protocol for wireless sensor networks. It is an energy-efficient geographical routing protocol. Moreover, the improvement in successful route-discovery rate must also be considered in geographical routing because route-discovery request may not be delivered successfully due to local optimality of geographical routing. PPVR displays how the higher success rate of route-discovery can be achieved. Also,$\bf{void node avoidance scheme} presented here shows how a geographical routing protocol can avoid void node region.
