This thesis presents the two-way bandwidth reservation mechanism the efficient mobility to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) for the support of real-time service such as the Voice over IP(VoIP) and mobile video telephone service on the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network. The proposed method takes advantage of the HLR (Home Location Register) for establishing the bi-directional Resource ReSerVation Protocol (RSVP) path in the GPRS network and between GPRS networks. Our proposed scheme in the intra/inter-GPRS network can provide almost real-time two-way bandwidth different from the existing network, reduce the RSVP reconfiguring time at handoff of a Mobile Host (MH), and shows the result of delay analysis. Due to the popularity and spread of mobile terminal such as mobile phone, PDA, notebook PC, etc, today’s people have more frequent moving features in their business and routine life. So, in terms of network and technology, Internet community wants to provide QoS (Quality of Service) guarantee as seamless and fast as possible, applying the Mobile IP (MIP) or other advanced schems to the existing and next generation network such as IP and the GPRS network, that is, the real-time mobillty and QoS in IP network is urgently required as the cellular netwok handoff. We propose a bi-directional RSVP (Bi-RSVP) mechanism supporting mobility management along the path on the GPRS network or within the GPRS local subnet using the HLR (Home Location Register), the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) and the Supporting GPRS Support Node (SGSN). In other words, Bi-RSVP triggering message by the HLR and Bi-RSVP functionality are operated in GPRS network elements, for example, the GGSN , the SGSN and others. Here, the GGSN and the SGSN act as Bi-RSVP agents between the GPRS network and each IP terminals such as Correspondent Node (CN) and Mobile Host (MH). Hence, avoiding triangle problem which is well-know in the MIP and remaining with no additional load on the hom...
