In an ad hoc network, mobile nodes communicate with each other using multi-hop wireless links. There is no stationary infrastructure; for instance, there are no base stations. Each node in the network can freely move around and forward data packets for other nodes as a router. Ad hoc network has disadvantages of frequent route changes and limitation of power. Therefore, in order to cope with above problems, Ad hoc Network uses on-demand routing protocol and Power saving Mode. There are many related papers about ad hoc network performance through simulation and experiment.and These papers did not handle Power Saving Mode. This thesis evaluate the performance of both the routing and transport layers in the point of Power Saving Mode in wireless ad hoc network through experiments. The experiments are done on a test-bed consisted of Laptops with wireless radio LAN interfaces. For these experiments, an on-demand routing protocol called AODV has been used. This thesis shows experimental results in Non Power Saving Mode and Power Saving Mode.
