Attention to time division multiplexed downlink packet transmission systems is now being increased in providing asymmetric multimedia service for more system capacity. With full power and rete control in the downlink, it is possible to get better throughput than that of code division multiplexed systems. In this thesis, non-real time data service is considered and two schemes with BS power allocation for the optimal BS operation are proposed.
First, the intercell interference is deteriorated by an efficient power allocation scheme. By allocating adequate BS power in short-term, othercell interference is reduced and the system throughput is increased. the BS power is reduced up to the discrete level with which the same data rate can be maintained.
Second, cell load is newly defined here for time division multiplexed downlink packet transmission systems. The cell load is controlled by changing BS power level in the long-term according to the information about a current cell load. The simulation results reveal that the overall blocking probability and throughput are improved.
