Business process reengineering as well as other process oriented innovation programs accompany changes in all aspects of a business organization including business rules. Business rules are statements about how the business is done and about guidelines and restrictions with respect to states and processes in an organization They explain the way that activities in the organization are constrained. The maintenance of business rules to be consistent with real business processes has practical importance since most of operational or managerial level activities of an organization are done with reference to business rule set which is described in rule books or work manuals. However, most of the current studies on business process modeling do not support the issue of business rule change management. The objective of this research is to suggest an integrated business process model, named Integrated Business Process Model (IBPM), for business process reengineering. The IBPM is an integrated model to support various aspects of business process including the behavioral, functional, organizational, and informational perspectives. The IBPM is also useful for the modeling of business rules and their relationships with business process components. The IBPM is composed of four sub models: the process model, the function model, the object model, and the rule model. Each model has its own modeling constructs. The process model is to show the dynamic and organizational perspectives of a business process and represented by process net and process schema. For each actor in the process net, there can be only one activity defined. This constraint is designed to keep the granularity of activity in the model. The function model is to represent the functionality of process sub-activities and to define events shown in a business process. To model the operation of each activity, a formal description language named Operation Description Language (ODL) is defined. The activity schema and the...eng
