For the probabilistic risk analysis of the low level radioactive waste disposal system, the simplified method is proposed. The selected disposal system to apply the method is the shallow land burial which is consisted of barriers to be arranged in standby redundancy.
Risk depends on time and is expressed by failure probability of the barrier system. Then the probable release rates of radionuclides are calculated by multiplying the radionuclide inventory which is expressed in terms of time.
The results are shown in the figures by using various parameter values in the table and they illustrate the effectiveness of single barriers in the barrier system. The probabilistic risk analysis for the safety evaluation of low level radioactive waste disposal system developed in this thesis could provide a useful tool for carrying out value impact analyses in the early design and site evaluation for low level radioactive waste disposal system.
