The Barkhausen noise and its ringdown counts and peak amplitude distribution have been studied during magnetization cycle in polycrystalline sheets of 78\% Ni-Fe and 3\% Si-Fe. The Barkhausen noise was predominantly observed on the steepest part of hysteresis loop and the RMS voltage of the noise decreased as the samples were annealed. This result is supposed to be caused by the removal of residual stress and texture in the annealed samples. The ringdown counts and peak amplitude distribution as well as RMS voltage decreased with increasing magnetizing frequency. It is concluded that ringdown counts and peak amplitude distribution are adequate parameters for exploitation of Barkhausen noise.eng
