To effectively implement B-ISDN which provides multimedia services, ATM with statistical multiplexer is proposed. Leaky bucket (LB), one of usage parameter control in traffic control, is most promising with respect to flexibility and implementation complexity. In this paper, we analyze the performance of LB with discrete time MMPP as traffic input. Integrated ATM traffic is modeled as discrete time MMPP which well reflects high correlation and burstiness. For infinite data buffer, we obtain a generating function of the queue size distribution at slot boundary, the Laplace transforms of the interarrival time distribution and waiting time distribution and the Laplace transform of the interdeparture time distribution of cells through LB. The cells through LB enter the network in the next step. Hence the interdeparture time distribution we evaluate in this thesis is the real interarrival time distribution to the network. For finite buffer, we obtain the queue size distribution at slot boundary and the Laplace transform of waiting time distribution and that of the interdeparture time distribution of cells through LB.
