Discrete spectral measure corresponding to orthogonal polynomials

Abstract

In this thesis, sufficient conditions are presented for the existence of a unique discrete measure of orthogonality for a system of polynomials with unbounded recurrence coefficients. Results are obtained by analyzing the spectral measure of a related self-adjoint operator and spectral analysis of second order difference equations.
