dc.description.abstract | This thesis is concerned with a problem in which optimal parameter settings are determined to make the performance characteristic perform near the target value consistently throughout the product``s life span. For this purpose, we propose a new performance measure-probability that the quality characteristic is within a specified distance from the target value. The proposed algorithm for parameter design optimization based upon a new performance utilizes the complex search method coupled with ranking and selection procedures.
