This thesis aims to present a new concept, u-Card, which enables of various services in ubiquitous environment. Development of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) enables the development of ubiquitous city (u-City) in many cities around the world. While u-City promises converged and ubiquitous service to the residents, the literature review and analysis of existing application suggest that integration and re-definition of service medium is required. In this research, four major areas related to the services that u-City promises are analyzed and the concept of u-Card is suggested as one of key enabler for the u-City and as means of connecting residents to the USN. Key properties and functions of u-Card are defined followed by framework for the u-Card. Also, key application that u-Card can be utilized in u-City environment are examined. The analysis of application business models is performed including comparison with existing application, such as location based service (LBS) and other forms of integrated services. Applications of u-Card suggest that it enhances conventional LBS solutions by mobile phone and enables integrated services across different service domains.
