In the future-generation wireless personal communication services networks (WPCN), a great number of subscribers in different regions in the world will be provided a wide variety of services, from high-quality voice to high-definition videos, through high-data-rate (HDR) wireless channels anywhere in the world. The HDR requires broad frequency bands, and sufficient broadband can be achieved in higher frequency bands such as microwave, Ka-band, and millimeter-wave. Broadband wireless channels have to be connected to broadband fixed networks such as the Internet and local area networks (LANs). The valuable bandwidth resource in the future-generation WPCN which requires broad frequency bands causes more important economic problem in its utilization and management. Out of many resource management strategies, this thesis focuses on those for prioritized admission in a broadband wireless communication system with various different priorities to the subscribers. Accommodating various admission requests with different priorities while maximizing total resource utilization is of great importance in many resource allocation problems to maximize social welfare, and especially in radio resource management for future broadband wireless personal communication networks with vast demand of high data rate. The modeling, analysis, and formulation newly established in this thesis are focused on maximizing resource utilization in a service system faced with prioritized admission. The major interest of this thesis is in providing higher opportunity to higher priority customers while minimizing the total number of lost customers in a service system with high stochastic variation of the customer arrival rate under the so-called blocked-customer-cleared discipline. The result of consideration is mainly applied to improve teletraffic performance in broadband wireless communication networks with such variations. In previous work, the arrival processes have been much simplified by str...
