The worldwide of broadband users is trying to find how we share information, conduct business, and seek entertainment. Thus, broadband access aims to not only provide faster Web surfing and quicker file download but also enable voice telephony using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and several types of multimedia applications, such as real-time audio, video streaming, multimedia conference, and interactive gaming. In particular, more advanced broadband access systems, such as Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and Very high data rate Digital Subscriber Loop (VDSL), enable such applications as entertainment-quality video, including High-Definition TV (HDTV) and Video on Demand (VoD). Due to these various applications and user requirements, the broadband market continues to grow rapidly and several types of new applications emerge. Broadband wireless is for bringing the broadband experiences to a wireless context, which provide benefits and convenience to movable users. There are two fundamentally different types for broadband wireless services: (i) Fixed wireless broadband, which attempts to provide a set of services by applying broadband characteristics as a competitive alternative to DSL or cable modem. And, (ii) mobile broadband, which offers the additional functionality of portability, mobility (the ability to keep ongoing connections active while moving at vehicular speeds), and nomadicity (the ability to connect to the network from different locations via different Base Stations (BSs). Specifically, mobile broadband attempts to bring broadband applications to new user experience scenarios, and thus can provide the end user with a different value of proposition. WiMAX (Worldwide interoperability for Microwave access) technology, the IEEE 802.16 standard, is designed to accommodate both fixed and mobile broadband applications. Mobile WiMAX network has the broadband capability, IP-based frame work, and the mobility feature. The broadband capability can supp...eng
