This thesis proposed an efficient 2D and 3D blending method, called Sprite Shell, for interactive walkthroughs with moving objects. It allows fast ray casting rendering relatively in which have many moving objects. In general, if there are no moving objects, the BSP method is fast. Currently the algorithm based on BSP including portals for realistic building navigator has been studying. But it is more important to operate many moving objects in some walkthroughs like games and interactive virtual reality. The sprite shell based on ray casting has several useful features: First, it is efficient to manage many moving objects by using the function of sprite shell. Second, the frame rates to moving objects are decreased linearly. This means that we can get constant frame rates. It is important to get constant frame rates in many applications including games and virtual reality. Third, it would be possible to implement parallel processing because each casting ray is independent each other. Because these features are efficient for many platforms, it would be adapt the sprite shell with constant frame rates in applications including virtual reality, games and building walkthroughs with moving objects.
