근거리 통신망의 Data link layer protocol 의 구현 및 flow control 에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 LAN의 link layer 표준 protocol인 IEEE 802.2 logical link control (LLC) protocol의 구현방법과 end-to-end flow control 방식에 대하여 기술한다. 먼저 LLC의 구현에 있어서 상위 layer와 medium access control (MAC)간의 접속을 원활히 수행하기 위한 기능별 구조를 결정하여, datagram 방식과 virtual circuit (VC) 방식을 모두 service할 수 있는 class II형태로 구성하고 이때의 address인식 및 분류, data의 전송과정, error control, buffer management, flow control 방법에 대하여 설명한다. 다음으로 상호간의 end user process의 processing speed mismatch에 의한 receive측의 overflow 방지를 위한 end-to-end flow control 방식 중 stop/go packet을 사용하는 경우에 대하여 input arrival data rate와 output service data rate의 차이에 따른 receive buffer의 occupancy 의 변화를 분석하고, 이때의 stop/go packet의 전달지연 시간을 mean transfer time으로 구한다. 위의 분석으로 overflow에 의해 발생되는 data loss를 최소화시키고 receiver측의 idle한 상태가 없는 최적의 receive buffer threshold를 one-threshold 설정방식과 two-threshold 설정방식에 대하여 각각 구하며, 또 이때의 normalized channel throughput과 channel efficiency에 대한 영향을 분석한다. 위의 결과를 10M bits/s token ring 방식의 LAN과 9600 bits/s의 PDN의 경우에 대하여 적용하였다.
