A localized volume selection technique using radial k-space scanning method an its application to $^{31}$P spectroscopy are presented. This technique employed an additional radial radial gradient coil and double tuned RF coil for the effective volume localization. The advantages of the proposed localization technique are that the signal degradation due to $T_2$ decay can be reduced using short RF pulse and the gradient echo data acquisition scheme, and the volume selection is immune to chemical shift. The theoretical background of the technique, computer simulation, and experimental results obtained from human volunteer are provided. The proposed technique appears to provide the accurate volume localization which is especially useful to phosphorus localized volume spectroscopy with low SNR. All experiments have been performed in KAIS 2.0T superconducting NMR imaging system.eng
