dc.description.abstract | This thesis is concerned with the design of a pseudo-noise (PN) sequence used in direct-sequence spread spectrum multiple-access (DS/SSMA) communication systems. So far the DS/SSMA communication system has been analyzed for two types of code chip waveforms, i.e., rectangular and sine waveforms. In this thesis work we propose a new waveform, a generalized version of rectangular waveform, which can reduce the multiple access interference to zero as the pulse width becomes narrower, thus giving far better performance than that of those two waveforms. In addition, computer simulations have been done to verify the validity of the proposed modulation and initial synchronization schemes. Finally, a method of realization of a Gold code generator and a system clock controller has been investigated. | eng |
