(An) automatic white blood cell differential counting system : W.B.C. searcher and digitizer

Abstract

This paper describes a system for searching and digitizing white blood cell (W.B.C.) images. First, optical image of blood specimen magnified through a microscope is converted to an electrical signal by the TV camera. From this electrical signal the WBC``s are searched. A window of 64x64 is then constructed around the serched W.B.C. and the image within this window is digitized. The digitized data is transferred to the high speed RAM with some control signals. For the above purpose, the 8085-SBC system and necessary analog and digital hardwares are designed. The above system is designed, constructed and tested with satisfactory results.
