In these days, wireless communication system is a very popular item in high technology world. Since the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has permitted Ultra-Wideband (UWB) between 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz to be used commercially in 2002, UWB technology has become more important and stronger in wireless personal area networking. One of the dominant technologies for the UWB system is UWB-IR (Impulse Radio) which is adopted in this research. We fully designed UWB communication system which mainly consists of circuits, package and test board. The circuits are mainly composed of transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX). Transmitter consists of two parts to generate UWB signal, impulse generator on chip and band-pass filter on package. Receiver to recover UWB signal as a digital signal is mainly designed on chip. Moreover, to insert these UWB circuits into one small package, we adopted System-in-Package (SiP) technology. SiP technology can integrates every component such as embedded passive component, designed circuits in small single package. As a result, SiP technology shrink a bulky system dimension and combine a chip and required components into one small package. Hence, we can make a small UWB transceiver system in one small package and verify its performance with the measurement. Furthermore, We can achieve and confirm 100Mbps data rate between antenna distances over 1m.
