The pulse sequence for water-suppression and volume localization in NMR proton spectroscopy is proposed in this paper. In this method, water suppression is achieved by preceding chemical-shift-selective(CHESS) inversion pulse and 3-D volume localization is performed by two selective RF pulses with radial and zgradient fields. Using radial gradient field, we could reduce the number of RF pulses required for volume selection. The proposed technique can provide short echo spectrum without S/N loss and be easily applied to the localized spectroscopic imaging technique. In order to verify the method, the experiments have been performed in vivo using the 2.0 T superconducting NMR system and the results are presented.
