A new polymer, poly 5-{[(6-N-carbazoylhexyl)oxy]methyl}-2-norbornene, was synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization(ROMP) with various transition metal catalyst systems. The structure and properties of the polymer obtained were analyzed by NMR, IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties of poly(NCHN) by cyclic voltammetry were studied. For studies on electrochemical characteristics, poly(NCHN) coated on the platinum working electrode. The resulting polymer appeared to show a electrochemical activity and reversibility between -0.5 and 1.5V. CV waves showed small peak separations and peak currents proportional to the scan rate. CV waves for poly(NCHN) also remained reproducible after many acans(11th cycles).
