This paper studied a signal coordination model for public transportation, which travels on dedicated lanes but is affected by intersection traffic signals, to ensure continuous progression. It was highlighted that the existing signal coordination model has limitations in the range of coordination. Since the coordination range is shorter than the actual public transportation route, it has to be divided into several coordination groups. As the PT vehicle stops at each intersection located at the boundary of the coordination group, the control delay increases, and the average speed decreases. E-BAND eliminated the limitations of the signal coordination range by giving leeway for trajectory change of the PT vehicle. This research also presented a methodology for deriving the Maximum Capable Speed Profile from a given speed limit profile. The effectiveness of E – BAND was verified by applying it to the Daejeon tram line. The study sites are six sections with a long coordination range that the existing model represented by MAXBAND cannot coordinate. E – BAND successfully coordinated all six study sites with sufficient bandwidth. It was confirmed that the MAXBAND did not coordinate with sufficient bandwidth, and the coordination groups were divided into several subgroups to estimate the performance of MAXBAND. E – BAND had a speed improvement of 10.94% in the outbound direction and 5.53% in the inbound direction compared to MAXBAND.
