A series of poly(1,4-phenylenevinylene-alt-3-alkyl-2,5-thienylenevinylene) (alkyl = hexyl[PPV-alt-6-TV] and octyl group[PPV-alt-8-TV]) has been synthesized by the Heck coupling reaction. These polymers were characterized using UV-visible, FT-IR spectroscopy and TGA thermal analysis. These polymers are solvent processible and have obvious copolymeric structure. The photoluminescence (PL) properties of the synthesized polymers were investigated using steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence and transient absorption spectroscopies. Most properties of the two synthesized polymers are very similar. The absorption maxima of them are 460 nm and PL emission maxima are 620 nm with 488 nm excitation. The comparative investigation was carried out for the photoinduced electron transfer phenomena of the composites composed of the synthesized polymers with $C_{60}$ through PL study. The PL intensities of the composites are dramatically decreased comparing to those of pure polymers due to the photoinduced electron transfer from the synthesized polymers to $C_{60}$.eng
